Professor Hemant Chavan has served as the advisor for the FAMT Ratnagiri Student Branch since it was chartered in 2018. The student branch has successfully organized a number of events and activities as well as taking part in social cultural activities.
The details of some of the activities organized for the FAMT Ratnagiri Student Branch are listed below:
Industrial Visits
Professor Chavan organized seven industrial visits to Zeco Aircon Limited, V Oak Engineering Limited, Caryaire Equipments India Private, Blue Star limited, Airpor Engineers, Royal Aircon Private Limited, and Gokul.
Technical Activities
The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized hands on training on HVAC components as well as group discussions on Green Buildings.
K-12/STEM Activities
The FAMT Ratnagiri Student Branch organized a variety of programs for K-7 students in the local community including a technical tour at the university.
Recruitment and Internships
Due to Professor Chavan’s untiring efforts 15 new student members joined ASHRAE in 2018-19. Student branch members also secured summer internships and recent graduates were placed in jobs in the HVAC&R industry.
International Day Celebrations
The branch celebrated World Population Day, World Environment Day, and International Woman’s Day. On the celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, the student branches - ISHRAE, ASHRAE, FSAI, ASME of FAMT organized a Beach Cleaning Campaign at Mandavi in association with Ratnagiri Municipality.
