ASHRAE and IBPSA-USA will jointly host the annual Building Performance Analysis Conference & SimBuild for 2020 in a virtual environment. The focus of the 2020 BPAC Virtual Conference will be to improve the decision making process through the application of simulation and modeling over the entire building life cycle, from the earliest concept through operation and maintenance to achieve the goals of zero energy, zero carbon, or other high performance targets.  Practitioners, vendors, researchers, utility and government officials, and owners will address the practices of energy modeling and building performance simulation using existing simulation tools, software development, and future simulation research and applications.

The anticipated conference program consists of Keynote Speakers, Invited Speakers, a Call for Papers, a Call for Presentations and the sixth ASHRAE LowDown Showdown. Special panels may be offered by industry leaders and organizations.

Highlights:

  • Over 32, pre-recorded and live, sessions accessible for 18 months
  • Daily keynote presentations
  • Access to live Q&A chat sessions with speakers following each session
  • 2020 ASHRAE LowDown Showdown
  • Virtual Networking and Sponsor Hall
  • Conference proceedings

The full conference program will be released soon.

  • 2020 ASHRAE LowDown Showdown

Each year of the LDSd competition, we ask participating teams to take on a new challenge in building performance analysis.  For 2020 when we ask the question “How low can you go?” we are not only talking about energy use.  Taking a page from New York City’s groundbreaking new Climate Mobilization Act that requires building owners to reduce their carbon footprint, the 2020 LDSd challenges participants to design a new building that has a low carbon or carbon neutral footprint.

The 2020 LDSd model building will be located in New York City.  Participating Teams will design a 300,000 sf, 15 story mixed-use building located anywhere in the five boroughs.  The building will contain retail space, residential space and a full-service restaurant.

The conference organizers are pleased to offer sponsorship opportunities for our first ever virtual conference to engage industry participation. The sponsorship offsets conferences expenses and provides access to seasoned practitioners and principals responsible for managing modeling services. All sponsors will have their company logo and name on the event website as well as having it featured in the virtual environment. Each sponsor will also have the opportunity to host a virtual table in the sponsor hall during the three day live event.
