- ASHRAE Handbook Online
ASHRAE Handbook Online offers all the content of the ASHRAE Handbook series, plus supplemental online features within Fundamentals, Refrigeration, HVAC Applications, and HVAC Systems and Equipment. Selecting this option during renewal provides a complimentary 12-month subscription that starts with your membership period.
How to Access:
1. ASHRAE Handbook Online is accessed at handbook.ashrae.org.
2. Sign in using your ASHRAE Member login and password.
Purchased Subscription Option:
If you would like to select a different complimentary member benefit, you can still access the Handbook Online by purchasing a subscription at a reduced rate during the renewal process. Additional details below.
- ASHRAE Handbook PDF
This option provides access to the most recent ASHRAE Handbook PDF, published annually in June. The Handbook PDF is “stamped” with your name and email, and downloadable as many times as you need the file. Users can download the entire Handbook or a single chapter, in either IP or SI Units.
If you selected this benefit, here is how to access it:
- In June, an email will be sent to the email address we have on file for you, alerting you to sign in to the ASHRAE Technology Portal using your ASHRAE Member login and password.
- Once logged into the Technology Portal, select the ASHRAE Handbook PDF icon (the red lock will change to a green unlock symbol with a successful login).
- Once selected, you may view and download the ASHRAE Handbook PDF.
- ASHRAE Standard or Guideline PDF
Select this option to receive immediate access to an ASHRAE Standard or Guideline PDF of your choice. Browse and search ASHRAE Standards/ Guidelines that may be of interest to you. You’ll have immediate access to download your ASHRAE Standard or Guideline PDF following your membership transaction.
If you selected this benefit, here is how to access it:
- Sign in to the ASHRAE Technology Portal using your ASHRAE Member login and password.
- Select the ASHRAE Standard PDF icon (the red lock will change to a green unlock symbol with a successful login).
- Once selected, view or download the ASHRAE Standard or Guideline PDF of your choice.
- ASHRAE eLearning Course
Select this option to receive one-year complimentary eLearning Individual Course as your annual membership benefit. ASHRAE eLearning is a 100% web-based learning allowing you to learn at your own pace, when convenient, and from any computer with internet access. View available eLearning Individual Course and gain immediate access to this benefit following your membership transaction.
If you selected this benefit, here is how to access it:
- Sign in to the ASHRAE Technology Portal using your ASHRAE Member login and password.
- Select the ASHRAE eLearning icon (the red lock will change to a green unlock symbol with a successful login).
- You’ll be provided a coupon code, and directed to browse and select your one individual eLearning Individual Course. This code is not available to use for eLearning Course Packages or eLearning Libraries.
- Apply your coupon code at checkout.
- Following the transaction an email will provide you with further instructions.
- ASHRAE Certification Study Guide PDF
Select from a list of available ASHRAE Certification Study Guides (PDFs). During the renewal process, when prompted enter your selected guide. Download your ASHRAE Certification Study Guide PDF through the ASHRAE Technology Portal.
Purchase a print edition of the ASHRAE Handbook
Full dues paying ASHRAE Full Members and Associates can purchase ASHRAE Handbooks at the discounted price listed during the join or renewal process. ASHRAE Handbooks are published in a series of four volumes, one of which is revised each year, ensuring that no volume is older than four years. Each volume is available in I-P (Inch-Pound) or SI (System International) units of measurement. The four ASHRAE Handbook Editions are:
Fundamentals, Refrigeration, HVAC Applications, and HVAC Systems and Equipment. ASHRAE Handbooks are printed and shipped annually in June to those who select this additional option.
Purchase ASHRAE Handbook Online Subscription
When joining, full dues paying Full Member & Associates receive a complimentary one year subscription to ASHRAE Handbook Online during their first year of membership.
Upon renewing, full dues paying Full Members and Associates can either select to receive the Handbook Online again as their annual membership benefit, or they can select a different benefit and also purchase an ASHRAE Handbook Online subscription at a reduced rate. ASHRAE Handbook Online offers all the content of the ASHRAE Handbook series, plus supplemental online features within Fundamentals, Refrigeration, HVAC Applications, and HVAC Systems and Equipment. All subscriptions to ASHRAE Handbook are for the duration of the membership and terminate with the membership expiration date.

ASHRAE Membership Automatic Renewal Program
An easier way to renew your ASHRAE membership.
When you use your debit or credit card to pay membership dues, you will be automatically enrolled in the ASHRAE Automatic Renewal Program. You can opt out by unchecking the enrollment box. When your membership comes up for renewal again, ASHRAE will automatically charge your dues to your credit card, so you'll save the time and hassle of keeping your membership up to date. Here is what you should know:
- You can cancel or edit your automatic renewal payment method at any time by visiting autorenew.ashrae.org, or by calling ASHRAE Customer Service at 404-636-8400, or by updating your member profile through logging into ashrae.org.
- When your membership comes up for renewal, we will alert you via email prior to charging your card, with the date and amount your card will be charged.

If your membership was cancelled and you’d like to rejoin simply fill out the online application. If you wish to keep your years of tenure by reinstating your membership...please contact ASHRAE staff. Each former member’s situation is different, so we want to offer the most suitable reinstatement option. Contact the Member Contact Center at 800-527-4723 (US/Canada) or 404-636-8400 (International) and ask a representative about reinstating your membership. You can also send an email to membership@ashrae.org, with the subject line of ‘Membership Reinstatement.’ If possible, include your former member number.
