    PDHs and Credits

    All courses are eligible for Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Credits correspond to the hours of instruction. These credits are recognized by the ASHRAE Global Training Center for Building Excellence.


    Cancellation Policy

    Registration fees will be refunded in full if cancellation is received by ASHRAE Learning Institute at least 30 days prior to the training date. Cancellations received 15-29 days prior to the training date are subject to a $150 cancellation fee. Registrants who do not attend the training or who cancel less than 15 days prior to the training date are liable for the entire registration fee. A substitute registrant may be enrolled at any time by contacting Ayah Said by email globaltrainingcenter@ashrae.org. Member/Non-Member rates will apply to the substitute registrant.

    ASHRAE’s HVAC Design Essentials training provides participants with instruction that accelerates their transformation into effective members of a design, construction or facilities maintenance team. Developed by industry-leading professionals selected by ASHRAE, the training provides attendees with the fundamentals and technical aspects of HVAC design. Attendees will gain practical skills and knowledge to design and maintain HVAC systems that can be put to immediate use.
    In addition to gaining in-depth knowledge and understanding, attendees will receive real-world examples of HVAC systems based on the renovated ASHRAE Headquarters building and on building in the MENA region. The training also teaches a systematic approach to guide a design team to a solution that optimally meets the client’s expectations.

    ASHRAE’s HVAC Design: Level II – Applications training provides participants with instruction on HVAC system design. The training is tailored for engineers with advanced experience in the HVAC design field, or those who have completed HVAC Design: Level I – Essentials. Developed by industry-leading professionals, the training provides advanced information that allows practicing engineers and designers an opportunity to expand their exposure to HVAC systems design procedures for a better understanding of system options to save energy.

    Dr. Samir Traboulsi-203x255.jpg

    Samir Traboulsi, , Ph.D., P.Eng., Fellow/Life Member ASHRAE, is currently a senior lecturer at the American University of Beirut and has taught a variety of subjects including building services technical courses, MEP design of green buildings, HVAC design courses, thermodynamics, operations research, the engineering economy, and engineering ethics. Dr. Traboulsi is the founder and was the president of the Lebanese chapter of ASHRAE, as well as director regional chair and director at large for ASHRAE. He also served as co-founder and former president of the Lebanon Green Building Council. He has worked extensively with UN agencies as a consultant and has presented lectures worldwide. Dr. Traboulsi is the author of numerous publications and is the recipient of both the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award and the ASHRAE Exceptional Service Award.

    Hassan Younes, Member ASHRAE, BEAP, BEMP, HBDP, CPMP, HFDP, OPMP, is a technical director and partner at Griffin Consultants. He has extensive experience in the fields of design, sustainability, commissioning, project execution and management, energy efficiency, and value engineering. He holds all ASHRAE certifications and is a certified energy manager, a certified measurement and verification professional, and a LEED-accredited professional. Hassan is a Grassroots Government Advocacy Committee (GGAC) member in the ASHRAE Region-at-Large, as well as a GGAC chair in the UAE local chapter.  He was awarded the Middle East Energy Professional of the Year award in 2015 by AEE, Middle East Young Engineer of the Year 2010, and was part of the Griffin Consultant’s team awarded the Energy Consultant of the Year 2017 award by Retrofit Tech and the Middle East Boutique Consultancy of the Year 2014 award.

    Attending the HVAC Design Courses Levels I and II provides you with guidance for implementing good HVAC design practice and provides background that will help you to prepare for the CHD certification.  However, the courses do not teach to the exam.  They are meant to improve your understanding of the body of knowledge which the CHD exam tests. It is important to be aware that attending the courses is not required to sit for the exam and attendance does not necessarily mean you will pass.
